WHO WE ARE

With more than 25,000 species, the orchid is one of the largest plant families on earth. The beauty of the orchid continuously inspires us to discover and cultivate new varieties. Opti-flor was born from the dream of creating something truly special, especially different than usual. We grow unique orchids of unsurpassed five-star quality. We do this better and recognizably differently every day, so that you can enjoy the most special orchids, at home or at work.

90⁺ DAYS OF FLOWERING PLEASURE

At our R&D location Roots, we test our current range twice a year for shelf life and flowering time. We do this because only the best orchids are good enough for our range. Our 'secret' lies in the strong roots of our orchids. Its strong roots grow into branches full of flowers, so you can enjoy excellent floral splendour for up to 90⁺ days!

In addition, we test hundreds of new varieties every year to renew or optimize our range. Only 1 to 2% of these new varieties get a place in our range. In our tests, we look at colour, number of branches, number of flowers and performance in flowering duration.

SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

In addition to growing beautiful orchids, we are committed to a more sustainable future every day. For example, we heat our greenhouses with geothermal energy, which means that approximately 60% of our heat now comes from sustainable sources. In addition, we have reduced our natural gas consumption by 60% since 2013, while our business has continued to grow.

We also participate in the 100% Green Grown project, in which we work together with innovation partners on green, organic and technological solutions with the lowest possible environmental impact. For example, we are investigating how pests can be controlled completely organically and we are taking further steps in data-driven cultivation with innovative techniques.

Our commitment to sustainable and responsible orchid cultivation is supported by certifications such as MPS-ABC, MPS-GAP, MPS-Socially Qualified, MPS-Quality and MPS-ProductProof.
